Mitraniketan is transferring appropriate technologies to rural areas for sustainable development. RTC is primarily a Training Cum Production Centre aimed at creating employment to rural youth. It also contributes to technology transfer programs supporting rural growth. This covers the areas of drinking water and sanitation, biomass utilization, non conventional energy sources and artisan tools and machineries. RTC provide services to install Rain water harvesting system, biogas plants, Fuel efficient stoves and similar technologies in the villages. Pottery, Coconut fiber based Value addition, Carpentry, prototype development (Fabrication, welding, Lathe), electrical, plumbing are the Training cum production units functioning in RTC. The training concentrates more on practices that is ‘learning by doing’ which helps youth to work with master craftsmen in the villages immediately after the training.
An Energy Museum also placed in the RTC to disseminate knowledge on non conventional energy sources and its usages to the visitors and students.
