Technical specifications:
- Pedal operated hammer is mounded on a suitable frame made of mild steel L- sections (angles) of size 35 x 35x 4 mm
- Impact box: anvil made of mild steel plate of size 200 x 150 x 20 mm is used as a hard surface for breaking the stone. The impact of the hammer is transferred from anvil to the frame.
- Thin shades are provided at the edges of the box to prevent flying chips while breaking.
- Hammering mechanism consists of three components (a. the pedal, b. the hammering lever, c. the connecting rope)
- A spring is provided for retracting of the lever after hammering, by releasing the pressure on foot pedal
Means of technology dissemination:
- Training of beneficiaries
- Institute level production and marketing
Method of dissemination: Technology has been disseminated among the beneficiaries through training them and conducting demonstrations/ field trials in the field. The technology has been developed with the help of Dr. G. G. Ray of IIT, Mumbai. Using his expertise, all the workers were oriented and the prototypes were taken to different sites for usage, practice and demonstration.
Impact : The main impact of the technology is the reduction in drudgery especially by changing the work method from manual hammering to pedal operated hammering by sitting in a stool. The shield provided in front of the machine prevents the fly of chips and ensure safety. By continuance practice, the beneficiaries are able to operate it and increase their work productivity and income by 100 percentage. There is demand for the machine from workers engaged in similar occupation from other areas. See Fig-1 below:
