The basic qualifications that are required for admission are 10th Pass & “Plus Two” (Higher Secondary). However, those who have experience in the field of geriatric care need only forward their matriculation papers.

Prospects: India is confronted with a rising “Geriatric (elderly) population” and there is an acute need for individuals who can provide quality care for a vast number of elderly people.

Furthermore the family structure in India is changing rapidly. Very often the modern Indian family consists of only a father, a mother and a number of children. As a consequence the elders of the family are left alone to take care of themselves.

This calls for courses such as the Diploma in Geriatric Care. The course will produce quality careers and will qualify the students to provide appropriate service to the elderly population. The students will be qualified to:

  • Demonstrate geriatric care
  • Demonstrate understanding of various geriatric health issues
  • Deal with emergencies
  • Communicate well with the service user

Admission / enrolment of candidates is done during June-August every year.
